A former cop under investigation for having an affair while on duty has been charged with his wife's murder, which he allegedly staged to appear as a suicide.

Anthony Shea, an 18-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, resigned from his post as sergeant in August in the middle of an investigation into accusations that would have resulted in his firing, according to the sheriff’s office and an arrest affidavit.

Deputies said Anthony Shea, 49, is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of his wife, Eloilda “Ellie” Shea, an Orange County lieutenant.

Anthony Shea is accused of fatally shooting Eloilda “Ellie” Shea, his estranged spouse. The two had worked at the same sheriff’s office in Florida.
