The Grateful Dead has been named as the 2025 Persons of the Year by MusiCares, with the band’s original members due to be feted at the organization’s annual gala concert and dinner on Jan. 31, two days prior to the Grammys.

The Grateful Dead have been named the 2025 MusiCares Persons of the Year, with the legendary jam band to be feted at a Grammy week gala in January. Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and the late Jerry Garcia will all be honored at the all-star event at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Jan.

Earlier this year, Grateful Dead were one of several acts to receive a Kennedy Center Honor. Today, MusiCares revealed the seminal rock band as its 2025 Persons Of The Year.
