There is nothing to split Tottenham and Liverpool after the first 45 minutes of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie. Not since winning this competition 16 years ago have Spurs got their hands on some silverware, but Ange Postecoglou will be satisfied after an even opening period in north London.

Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool thanks to Lucas Bergvall 's first goal for the club. The opening goal came just moments after the 18-year-old perhaps should have been shown a second yellow card for a foul on Kostas Tsimikas.

The Reds look to take a step closer to defending the cup as they travel to north London for today's first leg.
