Rain, wind and snow is set to batter parts of the UK early next week, just hours before the New Year. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind on Monday between 11am and 6pm which will impact the northwest of England.

A change in the flow of the jet stream over New Mexico will be bringing precipitation chances later this evening. Another chance in the flow over the weekend will lead to warmer temperatures. Northwesterly flow is increasing over New Mexico this afternoon.

Another round of rain arrives on Friday night as the front pushes in from the south. Widespread light rain will persist into the morning. Showers will be more scattered through the day with a brief dry break late Saturday night.
