Simpson estimated that Milton alone caused between $1.5 billion and $2.5 billion in damages. This comes on top of over $1.5 billion already sustained from hurricanes Idalia, Debby, and Helene, which hit Florida in rapid succession over the past year.

According to state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Hurricane Milton’s damages to farmers and ranchers may double the statewide agricultural destruction from three other storms that have pummeled Florida since August 2023.
