Record high winds from Storm Eowyn battered Ireland and Northern Ireland on Friday, leaving one man dead and almost one-third of Irish homes and businesses without power and forcing the cancellation of hundreds of flights.

Residents were wading through severe floods wrought by Storm Eowyn in Galway Bay, Ireland, in the early hours of Friday morning. Footage captured by Mateusz Czupryn shows the muddy torrents filling the streets around the promenade in coastel town Salthill.
