The Nationals signed outfielder/first baseman Franchy Cordero to a minor league contract, according to Aram Leighton of Just Baseball Media.

The New York Yankees added some depth on Monday, signing Dominic Smith to a minor league deal, the YES Network's Jack Curry reported.

Besides Goldschmidt, the Yankees have Ben Rice on the 40-man roster as a lefty-hitting first baseman. They also have DJ LeMahieu, who can play first if not starting at third base, and Oswaldo Cabrera, who has played first.
