In 2022, Brittney Johnson made history when she became the first Black actress to take on the role of Glinda full time. Kebede’s historic moment also comes after the success of the Wicked film, where Cynthia Erivo has been lauded for her portrayal of Elphaba.
‘Wicked’ on Broadway announces new stars Lencia Kebede and Allie Trimm
The Broadway production of “Wicked” has revealed two new lead performers. On March 4, Lencia Kebede will step into the role of Elphaba and Allie Trimm will take over the role of Glinda at the Gershwin Theatre. The pair will succeed Mary Kate Morrisey and Alexandra Socha, who will depart the musical on March 2.
Wicked on Broadway reveals new history-making lead casting
Allie Trimm, who has been serving as a standby for the role, will play Glinda. Interestingly, Trimm starred as Patrice alongside Grande as Charlotte in Jason Robert Brown’s 13 on Broadway – both making their debuts.
