The Tar Heels’ football program continues its transformation as Belichick brings in talent from CFP-featured programs and NFL pedigrees.

Another familiar face is heading to North Carolina with Bill Belichick.

When the North Carolina Tar Heels decided to part ways with Mack Brown, they saw a few recruits decommit and look elsewhere for an opportunity. But now with Bill Belichick as head coach, there's a chance some could come back including a key four-star edge rusher.

On Monday, Belichick had what is believed to be one of his first known recruiting visits: a trip to see 2026 edge-rushing prospect Zavio

Belichick, 72, has been active in the transfer portal as he builds his first roster in the collegiate ranks. The six-time Super Bowl winner and former New England Patriots head coach has added 10 transfer additions thus far while filling the void left by 19 transfer exits.

Bill Belichick must be glad he joined Instagram in September. The new UNC football coach, 72, explained that he’s “joining the 21st century” and using Instagram for recruiting players after taking over the Tar Heels program earlier this month.

Now that North Carolina is through their 2024 season following a 27-14 loss to UConn in the Fenway Bowl, the Bill Belichick era is officially off and running.

Bill Belichick may have just signed on at North Carolina but the UNC head coach is already making splashes in the transfer portal. According to On3.com, Belichick and the Tar Heels landed a massive commitment from Prairie View A&M offensive tackle William Boone.
