NEW YORK (AP) — Automaker Kia America is recalling more than 80,000 vehicles due to floor wiring beneath the front passenger seat that can become damaged and prevent airbags and seat belts from deploying properly.

South Korean automaker Kia Motors has recalled over 80,000 Niro vehicles in the US over a possible safety risk. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), frequent adjustment of the front passenger seat could damage the wiring underneath it.

Kia is recalling over 80,000 of its electric and hybrid vehicles over concerns about airbags, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced last week. The recall pertains to 2023-2025 Niro EVs, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEVs), and Hybrid vehicles, according to the agency's website.
