Prabowo Subianto has been sworn in as Indonesia's eighth president. This completes his journey from an ex-general accused of rights abuses during the dark days of Indonesia’s military dictatorship to the presidential palace.

Indonesia's newly minted leader, President Prabowo Subianto, officially swore in his cabinet on Monday, a team that analysts said reflected continuity of his predecessor's main policies.

The former general won 96 million votes—the most ever for a single candidate anywhere in recorded history—in a landslide presidential election in February.
