A team of archaeologists recently discovered a hoard of 141 Roman gold coins dating back to around the Fourth Century CE in northern Luxembourg. According to the National Institute for Archaeological Research (INRA), the coins were struck during the reign of nine different emperors who ruled between 364 and 408 CE .

Archaeologists in Luxembourg have discovered a lavish 1,700-year-old hoard of Roman gold coins that had been placed near the foundations of a small, tower-like Roman fort.

Archaeologists recently concluded their excavation of an area in Luxembourg that contained a hoard of 141 ancient Roman coins, now worth six figures in modern U.S. dollars.

The coins were found near the foot of a late Roman fortified tower, known as a burgus, which was used for military observation.
