President Donald Trump’s push to quickly overhaul the nation’s immigration system is at the center of a civil war between Ron DeSantis and Florida Republicans.

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s legislative leaders issued a stunning rebuke to Gov. Ron DeSantis, rejecting his call for a special legislative session while holding their own to support President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda.

The Florida House and Senate opened and then immediately adjourned a special session Monday called by Gov. Ron DeSantis to deal with his slate of immigration bills — but will regather to consider their own legislation later this week.
