A U.S. Border Patrol agent accused of abusing her K-9 partner at a South Texas checkpoint was following protocol for disciplining the dog, according to the labor union. Border Patrol launched an investigation this week after a traveler posted footage on Facebook of what appeared to be an agent driving her knee twice into a dog Wednesday afternoon at the Falfurrias checkpoint in South Texas.

The investigation into a video showing a Border Patrol agent allegedly kneeing her K-9 partner has prompted new statements from the Border Patrol Union of the Rio Grande Valley.

Former Border Patrol Agent Efren Lopez Cornejo has received lifetime probation after pleading guilty to one count of child molestation and one count of indecent exposure.
