Coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Carr was listed as doubtful because the team had hope that the 33-year-old could be the team’s emergency quarterback if need be. But when the time came, the Saints still listed Carr as out among the team’s inactives without the designation.

While this week is still up in the air, the Saints may get their starting quarterback back in the lineup sooner than expected.

Derek Carr got off to an explosive start for the New Orleans Saints in a new-look offense in 2024, but since Week 5, he hasn’t played due to an oblique injury. He’s doubtful going into Thursday Night Football against the Denver Broncos, which means Spencer Ratter will continue to start.
