LeBron James celebrates his 40th birthday on Monday, and well wishes have begun to pour in from peers, fans and celebrities alike.

LeBron James has been one of the top players in the NBA for the majority of his basketball career. However, many expected him to fall off in his 30s. In fact, when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers, most fans believed that the King was already finished and that he only joined the team to focus on his life off the court.

It’s not the same dynamic that James currently faces, because he still is playing at an All-Star caliber level. That puts the onus on James to continue managing his body so that he’s both available and remains one of the NBA’s best players. That also puts the pressure on the Lakers to surround James with a championship-caliber roster.
