The Michigan Cancer Consortium (MCC) is a statewide partnership of public and private organizations that collaborate to reduce the human and economic burden of cancer among the residents of Michigan. Introduction Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Michigan, contributing to significant economic and social costs. In 2018, an estimated 56,590 people in Michigan were diagnosed with cancer and 21,380 were projected to die from cancer.

Cancer Incidence Trends in Michigan

In 2020, an estimated 61,770 people in Michigan will be diagnosed with cancer and 21,000 are projected to die from cancer. To maximize impact on population health, interventions will continue to target breast, cervical, colorectal, and lung cancers due to the burden of and strategies available to address these cancers.

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Navigation Program (BC3NP) provides low-income women access to breast and cervical cancer screening services (mammograms and Pap tests) and follow-up care if needed.

The Cancer Screening Project (CaSPr) aims to help by offering free coordination and navigation services for colorectal, cervical, breast, and lung cancer to people with HIV in Michigan.
