Jan 4, 2022 · The advice in this thread worked for my Vizio M558 TV but with a little adjustment. I changed the Input on Power Up feature to HDMI 2. That is where our Apple TV lives and we use the TV mostly for that. The ATV is off and it didn't return to SmartCast, nice.

I also compared to to the VIZIO - SmartCast 36" 5.1-Channel Soundbar System with 5" Wireless Subwoofer and Digital Amplifier - Black. This had a very clean sound mix but lacked the low end ( sub is 6" compared to 26.5") which made the sound seem shallow.

Mar 23, 2021 · If the Vizio TV's didn't constantly revert back to smartcast every time the TV is turned on, this wouldn't be a big deal. It is incredibly annoying that it changes inputs automatically and takes you back to smartcast even when you don't want to use it. I would never buy a Vizio again purely because of smartcast.

Sep 14, 2020 · My M65Q8 is very responsive in the SmartCast menu. I came from a LG which was very lagging and the Vizio is a much better experience. I also use a Shield Pro just for the AI upscaling and Emulation. But the SmartCast is fine when I use it.
